What This Calculator Does

Calculate alcohol by volume for mixed drinks from ingredient volumes and ABVs.

It combines Ingredient 1 Volume, Ingredient 1 ABV, Ingredient 2 Volume, Ingredient 2 ABV to estimate Drink ABV, Total Volume, Pure Alcohol.

Formula & Method

Pure alcohol volume is A=ViABVi100A=\sum V_i\cdot\frac{ABV_i}{100}. Drink ABV is ABVdrink=AVtotal×100ABV_{drink}=\frac{A}{V_{total}}\times100 where Vtotal=Vi+Mixer+DilutionV_{total}=\sum V_i + Mixer + Dilution. Standard drinks use Std=A0.6Std=\frac{A}{0.6}.

Notation used in the formulas: RR = Drink ABV; x1x_{1} = Ingredient 1 Volume; x2x_{2} = Ingredient 1 ABV; x3x_{3} = Ingredient 2 Volume; x4x_{4} = Ingredient 2 ABV; x5x_{5} = Mixer Volume; x6x_{6} = Ice Dilution.

Method summary: inputs are normalized to consistent units, core equations are evaluated, then secondary values are derived and rounded for display.

Use this calculator for quick scenario analysis. Start with baseline values, change one driver at a time, and compare how sensitive the results are to each input shown above.
